Rest & Relaxation

During November we move further into the colder and darker season. You might notice changes in your energy level and how the body feels. The way we practice needs to shift with the season. So I think it’s important to take a look at our yoga practice and see if it supports us in the best way. What we need during the summer season is not going to be the same as the winter season.

Right now I think restorative yoga, deep relaxation, pranayama exercises that are soothing and calming and some gentle circulation are supportive practices.

Box breathing - inhale for 4 through the nose, hold for 4, exhale through the nose for 4, hold for 4. Repeat.

Benefits: stress relief, calming, soothing for the nervous system.

I love box breathing. It’s simple and powerful. I always feel very grounded and calm afterwards.

Below you’ll find links to a few yoga sessions on my YouTube channel that are calming and restorative. Put on some soft and comfortable clothes, and gather some pillows and blankets.

It’s ok to slow down and relax. It’s ok to do a restorative practice instead of a workout.
