In the Living Room

Years ago when my husband and I lived in Chestertown, MD I used to teach yoga sessions from our living room where we gathered to move, breathe, rest and connect. It was wonderful and quite magical.

I've always loved holding space that helps people relax and soften. A space for them to move and just be in the moment. There is something so wonderful when people feel safe to move and breathe in a relaxed free way.

Now years later we gather again in my living room but in a slightly different form.  In the Living Room is an offering for Bliss Yoga House members. It’s an intimate live yoga class that is held once a week online. We move, breathe, rest and soften.

It’s wonderful to connect in-person, but doing it online also has its beauty. You’re in your own home and you can set up your space in any way you want. You can practice in your pajamas, or soft linen pants and a t-shirt, light any candles or incense, practice beside your children, cat or dog. Personally I love practicing at home, that way I can weave it more easily into my everyday life.

When practicing yoga with me you’ll notice certain phrases and things I believe are important.

“Do what you can today, listen to your body, everyday is different.”

“Feel the breath, listen to your breath.” “Let’s slow down.”

“Feel your feet rooting down.”

“Move like no one is watching.”

“Your breathing is everything.”

“Getting into a perfect pose is not the goal. It’s about getting into the body. Being here and now.”

"Soften"

I try to keep things uncomplicated and simple. I love the basics when it comes to asanas (postures). In my opinion it’s not about learning and performing advanced yoga poses, it’s about creating an understanding and appreciation of the body.

The live classes are most of the time held on Fridays at 10 am. The live classes are uploaded and available in the house afterwards.

At Bliss Yoga House we value kindness, slowness, creativity, movement and rest.

If you feel called to join us the doors are open.
