Savasana - Deep Relaxation

Savasana, also called corpse pose is the most wonderful pose there is. It is one of the hardest poses though, because you have to remain still and quiet. In this pose we learn how to relax deeply. Nothing to do, no where to go.

“The ability to remain quiet, let go into the earth, and be that exposed, takes bravery, confidence, and letting go - bravery to look inside yourself; the confidence that what you will learn about yourself is basically good; the ability to let go of whatever comes up and still stay open, quiet, and grounded. This is called savasana, corpse pose, and it is when we learn not to do, but to be.” Cindy Lee, from the book Yoga Body, Buddha Mind

Lie down on the ground and make yourself comfortable. Legs stretches out and arms alongside the body with palms facing up. Close your eyes. Feel your body sinking deeper into the ground. Let go. Allow your legs and arms to become heavy. Relax the belly and chest. Drop the jaw. Relax all the muscles in your face. Let go and soften. Stay for at least 10 minutes. You can either set a timer or put calming music on that is about 10 minutes. When you are done, wake up your body slowly and notice how you feel.
